Gurdwara Rori Sahib is one of the most important historic Sikh shrines in Eminabad and is closely associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji. According to Sikh tradition, Guru Nanak stayed in this area with Bhai Lalo, one of his early followers, during the period when Eminabad, then known as Saidpur, was attacked by the forces of Babur in 1521.
The name Rori Sahib comes from the Punjabi word rori, meaning small stones or pebbles. Tradition holds that Guru Nanak sat and rested on the pebbled ground at this site while absorbed in prayer. During the capture of Eminabad, he was among those detained by Babur’s forces, and the Gurdwara was later established to preserve the place associated with this episode.
The shrine became one of Eminabad’s principal Sikh religious sites and was historically surrounded by a large sarovar and additional buildings. Its architecture and sacred spaces preserve the memory of Guru Nanak’s presence in the region and connect the site with a turbulent but significant chapter in early Sikh history.
