Gurdwara Janamasthan Bebe Nanaki, also known as Gurdwara Dera Chahal Patshahi Pehli, is a historic Sikh shrine marking the birthplace of Bebe Nanaki Ji, the elder sister of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Dera Chahal was the village of Guru Nanak’s maternal grandparents, and Sikh tradition records that he visited the village many times during his early life.
Bebe Nanaki Ji holds a special place in Sikh history as one of the earliest people to recognise the spiritual greatness of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. She is remembered for her deep affection, support and faith in her younger brother, and is often regarded in Sikh tradition as his first devoted follower.
The Gurdwara preserves the memory of her birth and of the close family connection between Dera Chahal and Guru Nanak’s early life. The shrine includes a domed structure and historically had a sarovar beside the Darbar. The building underwent repairs in 1996 after a period of deterioration, helping preserve this important Sikh heritage site in the Lahore region.
