He was known for supporting his widowed mother and sister through honest work while also helping Sikhs in need during a period of severe persecution.<\/p><p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">According to Sikh historical tradition, Bhai Taru Singh was arrested for assisting members of the Sikh community and was pressured to abandon his faith. He refused and remained steadfast despite imprisonment and torture. A religious decree was eventually issued ordering that he be scalped alive. Sikh accounts remember that he continued repeating the name of <strong class=\"x7amdea\">Waheguru<\/strong> throughout his suffering and died in 1745.<\/p><p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">A Gurdwara was later established at the place associated with his martyrdom. During the Sikh period, land was granted for the maintenance of the shrine, and it later came under the management of the <strong class=\"x7amdea\">Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee<\/strong>.
